Edge finish

On 8 modern edge dressing machines we are able to provide the edge finish for the
following range:

Material Stainless steel
Thickness 0.2 - 6.0 mm
Width 5.0 - 300 mm
Coil inside diameter according to customer specification
one-layer winding or oscillated winding
Surface 1D hot rolled, annealed, pickled
2B cold rolled, annealed, pickled, skin passed
2D cold rolled, annealed, mechanically descaled
  2R cold rolled, bright annealed
  1G/2G ground
  1J/2J brushed
Edge finish gk slit edges
  wak flat rolled edges
  sak fully round edges
  bk sharp rolled edges
Surface protection paper interleaving
  deep drawing and protective films

Please find below a schematic illustration of the different edge finishes:

Untrimmed Basic coil from the mill without edge trimming. Cracks, ripples, and tines/tears up to 20 mm per side possible.
Range of use:
Basic coil for slitting and cutting to length, needs to be trimmed. This edge is unsuitable for finished product

BK -Sharp rolled edge Made starting from slit edge - mechanically rectangular milled off.

Smooth edge, cut or fracture face no longer visible.

Subsequently smoothened and aligned through mechanically rolling of the "Cut surface".

Standard reference:

EN ISO 9445-2:2010

Attention:

There is a possibility of surface damage (scratches and marks from rolling) due to the mechanical processing of the material.

Range of use:

e.g. lock gaiters for door and window locking mechanisms.

GK - Slit edge
SAK -  Fully round edge
WAK -  Flat rolled edge
